It is understood that nearly 90% of Chilean cherries are exported to China. Because Chilean cherries shipped by sea arrived in Hong Kong later than last year, the fresh cherries on the Hangzhou market are basically airlifted from Chile.
The proprietress estimated the price according to previous years. "After two weeks, the price of 5 kg is more than 200 yuan a box, which can be nearly half cheaper, depending on when the goods arrive."
However, the proprietress also said that her goods had just arrived by air on the same day, "fresher than by sea."

According to Mao Jie, an old merchant selling imported cherries, the origin of imported cherries in Hangzhou is mainly Chile, and there are many varieties. The market often sells black cherries such as Santina and Cordia, red cherries such as Brooks, Rabins and yellow cherries such as Rennie.
"The taste of cherries depends on the variety, such as Cordia and Santina, which are more delicious than the average variety of black cherries." Sister Mao said that when choosing cherries, you should choose "long legs"-the fruit handle is long and thin.
